| Upper School’s latest IPC unit is the Power of Water. (Also see parents information letter - PDF)
Each class has been experiencing an exciting Entry Point with the help of the Science Department at Applemore College.
Water-powered rockets were launched on our school field after the children predicted which rocket would be the most efficient and why this would be.
They were then shown how to make rockets which could be tested using air pressure (the water rockets would have been too messy for each group to experience).
Groups made the basic rocket tube and then adapted it using fins, extra weight or changes to the design to try to produce a rocket which would stay in the air for the longest time.
Each class will have a winning group who will be able to take their designs further and build a new rocket to test.
Class 9D are seen here in the photos.
The rocket that stayed in the air longest belonged to Amy, Charlotte and Emily and went the highest staying in the air for 4.69 seconds.
Many thanks to Applemore College, especially Mr. Churchill and Robert Oldham, his assistant and an ex-pupil from Marchwood Junior School.
