Marchwood Junior School – Proud to be Green

WHAT DOES THE GREEN TEAM DO?

  • Encourage others to recycle by using clear plastic sack in green bin in classroom. Paper, plastic bottles, cardboard can all be placed in the green bin. However, paper towels should be placed in the ordinary bin/black sacks. Remind class during Circle Time about the importance of reducing waste AND reusing where possible.
  • Turn off lights when leaving classroom empty eg for assemblies and at breaktimes.
  • Close windows and doors to keep heat in during winter months.
  • Turn off dripping taps and tell Mr Long, the Caretaker, if any taps seem difficult to turn off as they may need to be repaired. If you can’t find Mr Long, tell Mrs Dalton or Mrs Kitson.
  • The Green Team monitors are also responsible for collecting breaktime fruit peelings etc for the Gardening Club compost bin, near the Quiet Area. This bin is GREEN and not the yellow general waste one. The basket for collecting the peelings should be taken out each breaktime and emptied each day into the bin.

PLEASE TELL MR BASSETT, MRS DALTON OR MRS KITSON IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS FOR HELPING OUR SCHOOL TO BECOME BETTER AT RECYCLING, SAVING ENERGY AND WATER
